WHAT'S YOUR DREAM?

I think one of my favourite films of all times is Billy Elliot. I'm sure you know the story, but just in case... Billy Elliot is an eleven-year-old child who lives in the north of England and grows up in a time when unemployment was at a peak so life was really hard.

In this tough world he finds out that he has a passion for ballet. As you may imagine, his father is NOT very happy about it. In fact, he strongly disapproves of Billy's love for dance. But Billy is determined to make his dream come true...

I like it because it's a film about self-improvement and determination. It's a very inspiring story and it makes you want to work hard to get your dreams.

What about YOU? Do you have A DREAM? Are you determined to make it come true? If so, share your story with everybody else on the blog.

Or else... you sure have A FAVOURITE FILM. Tell us about it and why it is your favourite film.

In the menawhile, I'll let you have a taste of Billy Elliot. And if you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for? GET IT FROM YOUR LIBRARY AND ENJOY IT!

DO YOU HATE YOUR NAME?

Well, before I was born, my parents had thought of calling me Raquel. Raquel is a beautiful name and it sounds nice. But on the very day I was born, my father decided to change it to Carmen. A sister of my mother's, who was also called Carmen had died at the age of three, so my father thought it would be a nice surprise to both my mother and my grandmother. And that's how I got my name and I'm quite happy about it. You might argue that it's a bit old-fashioned, but I don't mind it a bit. I just thank God my aunt wasn´t called Raimunda!!!

And YOU, do you know how your parents chose your name? Do you like it? Or... do you hate it like Chris in this video? Enjoy the video and then share YOUR STORY with everybody else on the blog.

Education

I'm starting this blog today in the hope that you'll make it grow. So I want to start by quoting William B. Yeats:

"Education is not like filling a bucket, it's like lighting a fire."

I find this quote most inspiring. And YOU? What do you think about it?
